High Tech Torture by Juan Silva

Minnesota’s super max seg is known as the administrative control unit or A.C.U.. This unit consists of no human contact. Its very design is for the implicit purpose of breaking one down psychologically. It’s a new spin on an old, failed concept devised by William Penn & The Quakers, a modern penitentiary of sorts.

Those housed here are for disciplinary infractions or administrative seg, which is a state of limbo that can be in duration of many years. Most suffer from mental illnesses, such as a Native American Individual whose been back here nearly 7 years!

Caucasian prisoners who claim mental distress or malinger the same- are housed in a plush mental health unit with extravagant amenities. Minority prisoners with severe mental illnesses are simply placed in the A.C.U…

This is further compounded by “High Tech Torture” via electronic means. Our sink, toilet, and shower can be controlled from a master control station, where guards monitor everyone- every cell has a video camera inside.

These sadistic guards routinely shut off our water or disable toilets while one is defecating. Thereby, forcing prisoners to languish in their own stench for hours usually until the next shift. I’ve personally experiences this abuse; my toilet has been disabled every night for the past 8 ½ months.

Evidently this is condoned, the administration covers ups these abuses by turning a blind eye, not in any meaningful investigation ever conducted. It’s a case of the fox guarding, the henhouse, “nothing to see here folks”.

There has been an increase of guards being assaulted by having liquids thrown on them, this is the direct result of the “High Tech Torture”, Since it serves no purpose to complain, one must endure ongoing abuse until a breaking point is reached.

This exacerbation of mental illness, antagonization, results in prisoners acting out due to the same. Criminal charges are filed, in addition to more seg time & extended incarceration. This ensures the prisoner of having to face more years back here, this cycle may repeat itself multiple times, as has been the case for the Native American Prisoner mentioned earlier.

Just as the German citizens were oblivious to atrocities taking place in concentration camps, Americans likewise are guilty. Re: The torture, the beatings, murder, racism, false charges taking place every day in prison plantations & super max seg units, being perpetrated by guards!

It’s a fact, 90% of the incarcerated population will be released, some whom served years in super max torture chambers being subjected to the same. Deprived of mental health care, some will be mentally unstable, they may even harbor thoughts or revenge, or murder? Thet very well could be your new neighbor.

I implore you to contact your law makers, senators, congress people and speak out against this madness! Recidivism can only be conquered via prison reform this has to start by treating prisoners with human dignity, as if they were your loved ones doing time.

Someone once said: “A society can best be judged by how it treats its prisoners”. What does that prognose mean for us all?
